Communities We Serve

Seacoast Waldorf School is rooted in Eliot, Maine, but our community reaches well beyond. Families make the drive from towns up and down the Maine and New Hampshire seacoast because they're looking for something specific: small classes, a slower and more intentional rhythm to the school day, and an education that treats childhood as something to be lived fully, not rushed through. Here's a bit about the communities we're proud to call home.

Eliot, Maine

Our campus sits right here in Eliot, on the Maine side of the Piscataqua River. For many of our families, Eliot isn't just where the school is, it's where they live too, which means school pickup, weekend hikes, and neighborhood friendships often overlap in the best way.

Kittery, Maine

Just a short drive from our campus, Kittery families are some of our closest neighbors. Between the working waterfront and the quiet backroads inland, Kittery has long been a town that values craft and community, qualities that carry right into our classrooms.

York, Maine

York families bring a coastal, outdoor sensibility that fits naturally with Waldorf education's emphasis on nature, movement, and the changing seasons. Many of our York families first found us while looking for something with more room to roam than a typical classroom offers.

Wells, Maine

A bit further up the coast, Wells is home to families who value open space and slower mornings, exactly the pace our Early Childhood and Elementary programs are built around. The drive is worth it for a school day built on rhythm instead of rush.

South Berwick, Maine

South Berwick's long history as a mill town turned quiet New England village mirrors something we care about at SWS: honoring what came before while still building something new. We're glad to count South Berwick families among our own.

North Berwick, Maine

Our North Berwick families often come to us specifically looking for an alternative to a larger, more conventional classroom, something smaller, handwork-focused, and closely connected to the natural world just outside our doors.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Just across the river, Portsmouth families are drawn to SWS for the same reason they're drawn to their own city: a strong sense of community, a love of the arts, and a belief that education should be about more than test scores.

Dover, New Hampshire
